I decided, after about six years, to run a half marathon. I didn’t know where to begin with my training, so I talked with Coach Misty. She was very positive, encouraging, and knowledgeable. We trained according to heart rate, which fascinated me. She checked in with me every week to see how the runs went, both physically and mentally, and always made me aware that schedules can be modified when need be. She was just a text or call away if I was struggling or to celebrate a good day. I was amazed at how much faster I was running, training this way. She knows her stuff!! Misty. Where do I even start?! She hands down is the best coach you could get to crush your any distance goals. She checks in weekly to see where you need to modify your program and couldn't have had a better experience! Most of my life, I was a 5K runner, competing in high school and college for cross country. So, I’d say I was a short distance runner until I met Misty. I always dreamed about putting my big girl shoes on and running a marathon. I expressed to her that it was on my list of things I wanted to train for, but I had no idea where to start or how to train for something that big. Instantly, she wanted to know my schedule as she designed my own training program leading up to Monumental. That is a schedule I am always going to go back to. She nailed the distance and paces that challenged me just enough to hit my goal. Goal for Marathon: 3:45. Time I Ran: 3:45:33.
